BOSTON, Mass. - Graduate student Peyton Anderson potted the game-winner and fifth year netminder Gwyneth Philips pitched a 31-save shutout to lead the No. 7/5 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 2-0 victory over the Boston University Terriers on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
Philips has four shutouts on the season through six games. She now has 20 shutouts in her career, which is tied for the second-best mark in program history.
- The Huskies and Terriers traded blows through the first two periods, but neither side could find the back of the net.
- Finally, Peyton Anderson broke the scoreless deadlock just under five minutes into the third frame to give Northeastern a 1-0 lead. Anderson's game-winner came off assists from freshman Allie Lalonde and graduate student Megan Carter.
- Sophomore Lily Shannon scored an empty-net goal with 28 seconds left to bring the final score to 2-0. Shannon's goal was assisted by junior Skylar Irving and Anderson.
- Philips earned her fifth win of the season with her 31-save effort.
The Huskies will next head to Merrimack on Friday, Oct. 13 for a 6 p.m. puck drop at Lawler Rink.
