DULUTH, Minn. - The No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team fell to No. 1 Ohio State in the NCAA Women's Frozen Four Semifinals, 3-0, on Friday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena.
Senior netminder Gwyneth Philips made a career-high 50 saves in the loss.
Just 1:16 into the game, Ohio State got on the board first to take a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later, a Northeastern goal was disallowed after a successful coaches' challenge and the Buckeyes held a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Ohio State scored again with 8:42 remaining in the second period to extend the lead to 2-0. With 1:16 remaining in the second period, the Buckeyes added another to take a 3-0 lead into the final frame, in what would end up being the final score.
The Huskies end the season with a program-record 34 wins along with their third-straight appearance to the Frozen Four, sixth-straight Hockey East Championship and 18th Beanpot title.
