ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team defeated the Boston College Eagles, 6-3, on Friday evening in Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): Crashing the net after Reid Pabich had his shot saved, Aidan Carney scored the go-ahead goal for the Black Bears. David Breazeale fired a shot from the blue line. Pabich collected the loose puck and fired two shots on the Boston College net. Carney took advantage of the rebound and found the back of the net.

Second Goal (2-0 Maine): With 1:36 remaining in the first period, Donavan Villeneuve-Houle scored a breakaway goal. Lynden Breen connected on a beautiful pass the length of the ice. Donny Hockey did the rest of the work and found space underneath the crossbar. After 20:00, Maine held a 2-0 lead.

Third Goal (3-0 Maine): While on their first power play opportunity of the evening, Luke Antonacci scored the third goal of the evening for his squad. Lynden Breen played the puck back to David Breazeale who tossed it across the blue line. Antonacci took his time, picked his spot, and found the back of the net.

Fourth Goal (3-1 Maine): Skating on their third power play of the night, Boston College made it a two goal game. Andre Gasseau scored in the midst of some traffic in front of the Maine net. The lead would soon shrink.

Fifth Goal (3-2 Maine): The Eagles would climb to within one goal on the very next power play. Cutter Gauthier fired into a mess of skaters in front of Victor Ostman. The puck found its way through the Maine defense and into the net. With just under nine minutes remaining in the second period, the Black Bears held a one goal lead.

Sixth Goal (4-2 Maine): Staying perfect on the power play, Jakub Sirota scored the second power play goal of the night for the Black Bears. Grayson Arnott and Nolan Renwick before the duo left the puck for Sirota. The captain's shot deflected off a Boston College defender and into the net. After 40:00, the Black Bears held a 4-2 lead.

Seventh Goal (5-2 Maine): After forcing a turnover in the neutral zone, Michael Mancinelli skated the puck into the Boston College end. The forward took a shot that was saved directly to Felix Trudeau. The freshman buried the puck and gave his squad another three goal lead.

Eighth Goal (5-3 Maine): The Eagles' scored their third power play goal on their fifth chance when Nikita Nesterenko found the back of the net. Boston College worked the puck around the Maine penalty kill unit before pulling to within two.

Ninth Goal (6-3 Maine): The final goal of the night came from Lynden Breen when the forward scored an empty net goal from his own end. The Black Bears would defeat Boston College 6-3.


Notes:

Victor Ostman saved 31 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Mitch Benson stopped 23 shots between the pipes for Boston College.

Maine went 2 for 3 on the power play, as the Eagles were 3-6 on their player advantages.
