ORONO, Maine. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team downs Merrimack 5-2 on their first game of the weekend against the Warriors.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): After a scoreless first period, Maine scored their first 3:52 into the second period on a power play goal from Alyssa Wruble. Elise Morphy started with the puck connecting with Mira Seregély. Seregély in stride passed the puck over to Wruble directly in front of the net who tapped the puck in for the score.

Second Goal (2-0 Maine): 8:50 into the second the Black Bears scored their next goal. Ally Trimper fighting for the puck against the boards found sister Morgan Trimper who was parallel with the net who then quickly passed behind her to find Anna Caumo skating down in front of the net who snuck it in for her second goal of the season.

Third Goal (2-1 Merrimack): 12:26 into the second period Merrimack scored their first of the night on a power play goal. Katie Kaufman found Teghan Inglis who passed further down ice to Alexa Pongo who scored the goal.

Fourth Goal (3-1 Maine): Still in the second period (16:49) Luisa Welcke scored for the Black Bears. Set up on Merrimack's side, Lilli Welcke passed the puck across ice to Mira Seregély. Seregély shot the puck toward the net where Luisa Welcke grabbed a piece to give Maine their third goal.

Fifth Goal (3-2 Merrimack): 3:49 into the third period Merrimack scored their second of the night on another power play. Payten Evans passed to Teghan Inglis. Inglis then shot the puck toward the net where it got lost behind Jorden Mattison and Madison Oelkers was able to skate behind and poke the puck in.

Sixth Goal (4-2 Maine): 6:20 into the third Alyssa Wruble scored her second goal of the night on the power play. Luisa Welcke found Lilli Welcke down in the corner who swiftly passed the puck to Wruble who was directly in front of the net and hit it in with a one timer.

Seventh Goal (5-2 Maine): Grace Heiting scored the final goal for Maine with just 29 seconds left. After Merrimack pulled their goalie and being on the power p\lay, Heiting got the puck and scored shorthanded on the open net.

Jorden Mattison finishes with 27 saves for Maine.

Calli Hogarth ends with 28 saves for Merrimack.
