FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Senior captain Marshall Warren fired a shot low glove side a minute into overtime to lift No. 19 Boston College past Sacred Heart 3-2 on the opening night of the Pioneers' new Martire Family Arena on Saturday.

The Eagles improved to 9-6-4 after winning the first all-time meeting in series history against the Pioneers (11-9-1).

Freshman Andre Gasseau led Boston College with a career-high three-point night, factoring into every score with a goal and two assists. Junior assistant captain Trevor Kuntar collected his seventh goal of the season in the win.

After a scoreless first period, the hosts opened the scoring on the power play when Conner Hutchison's shot from the high slot found its way inside the right post through traffic.

Gasseau pulled the Eagles level by creating a neutral zone turnover during another Pioneer power play. The rookie skated down the slot with back pressure before deking forehand and flipping a shot under the crossbar glove side with 4:40 left in the second.

Kuntar handed BC its first lead of the night just 32 seconds into the third when he buried a Gasseau feed from the low slot on an odd-man situation down low. Cutter Gauthier posted the secondary assist for his 19th point of the year.

Sacred Heart tied the score at the 7:27 mark when Kevin Lombardi tipped a left point shot blocker side on Mitch Benson (23 saves) from the slot.

The overtime winner came after a faceoff win by Liam Izyk in the right circle. Gasseau fished out the puck and curled to the outside hash mark before picking out Warren on the weak side to finish against the grain.

BC out-shot SHU 27-25 on the night, including a 13-5 edge in the third period.

Boston College returns to Hockey East play next weekend with a two-game series against Vermont at Kelley Rink on Jan. 20-21.
