PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Connecticut women's hockey team closed out 2022 with a 3-0 shutout victory over Brown University Saturday afternoon. Megan Warrener made 15 saves in the shutout while Brianna Ware, Ainsley Svetek and Megan Woodworth all scored for UConn.

UConn wasted no time Saturday afternoon as Brianna Ware scored the first goal of the game only 1:30 after puck drop. UConn did not stop there as Ainsley Svetek extended the Huskies lead as she fired a puck from the blue line right past the Brown netminder for the goal. Megan Warrener blanked Brown in the first period making five saves.

UConn extended its lead in the second period as the UConn pressure became too much for Brown to handle as Megan Woodworth was in the right place at the right time to follow up a saved shot from Kathryn Stockdale for the goal.

With a three-goal lead, UConn's defense remained strong as the Huskies limited the Brown offense and prevented many scoring chances. Megan Warrener only made three saves in the third period as UConn closed out the game keeping Brown scoreless.

With the win, UConn improves to 13-8-2 on the season and Megan Warrener improves to 5-1-0 on the season.
