TEMPE, Ariz. - Five different Eagles scored goals on Friday night as Boston College began the second half with a 5-2 non-conference victory over Arizona State at Mullett Arena to open a two-game series.

The Eagles pushed their unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2) and improved to 7-5-4 (5-3-3 HEA), while the Sun Devils dropped to 9-11-0.

Colby Ambrosio and Matt Argentina each had a goal and an assist in the victory, while Nikita Nesterenko and Aidan Hreschuk each collected two assists. Nesterenko extended his career-high point streak to six games (3-6-9) and Argentina pushed his point streak to three games.

Boston College out-shot Arizona State 50-28, firing at least 50 shots on net for the first time since piling up 59 shots against Maine on Feb. 20, 2021.

BC took an early 2-0 lead on goals from Mike Posma and Andre Gasseau in the first five minutes. Pomsa converted a rebound following a right point shot from Eamon Powell at 2:29, and Gasseau finished a shorthanded 3-on-2 rush from the left wing from Hreschuk at 4:22.

Dylan Jackson pulled a goal back for ASU on the power play at 5:41, beating Mitch Benson (26 saves) high blocker side through traffic from the right wing side.

The Eagles nearly extended their 2-1 lead, but TJ Semptimphelter denied Nesterenko and Gentry Shamburger on partial breakaways later in the first period.

Nesterenko was the catalyst late in the first, putting the puck between his skates to his backhand through the right wing circle. Ambrosio followed Nesterenko's weak-angle attempt and Argentina finished at the top of the crease for a 3-1 cushion.

ASU's Ryan O'Reilly skated down the slot to finish a rebound off a left wing shot to make it a 3-2 game just 20 seconds into the middle frame.

Following a right wing shot from Cam Burke, Liam Izyk threw the puck back to the net-front and Christian O'Neill batted it out of mid-air to restore the two-goal lead at 12:56.

Ambrosio sealed the win at 13:35 of the third period, whacking a backhand centering pass from Nesterenko from mid-air inside the right post. Argentina posted the second assist on the play.

The teams close their weekend series on New Year's Eve at 5 p.m. (ET) in Tempe.
