Box Score - Highlights

BOSTON - Senior captain Nadia Mattivi scored 50 seconds into overtime to lift the Boston University women's ice hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Holy Cross in its first-half finale on Friday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

The Terriers scored the lone goal of the opening period before the visiting Crusaders scored twice in under three minutes during the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Junior Lacey Martin tied up the contest soon after before the final 24:20 of regulation was scoreless.

Mattivi ended the contest with her fourth goal of the season to help the Terriers improve to 7-12-0 on the year and 6-9-0 in Hockey East play. Holy Cross falls to 2-18-1 with a 1-14-0 conference mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- In a back-and-forth opening period, freshman Brooke Disher was able to open the scoring and give the Terriers a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

- Off a rush, a centering pass by junior Catherine Foulem went off sophomore Christina Vote and the puck ended up in the slot and Disher was there to bury it at the 18:15 mark.

- Each team had a power-play chance in the opening period but neither was successful.

- The visitors used their second power-play opportunity of the game to draw even as a second effort by Mary Edmonds in the low slot found the back of the net at 11:45 of the second.

- Less than three minutes later, Kailey Langefels flung a shot from above the left circle that deflected off teammate Charlotte Sonntag and into the right circle where Millie Sirum backhanded the puck in with her back to the goal to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

- An impressive individual effort from junior Lacey Martin made it a 2-2 affair as the center went from one left circle to the other, weaving around the Holy Cross defense before using a nifty move to cut towards the net untouched and beating Holy Cross netminder Madison Beck with a near-side top-shelf shot.

- The Terriers put 13 shots on goal in the third period alone but were unable to break the deadlock and the game headed to overtime.

- In the extra session, Mattivi broke up a rush and sophomore goaltender Callie Shanahan knocked aside the loose puck, allowing Mattivi to gather it and start a 2-on-1 up the right side.

- The senior skated through the right circle and faked a shot before putting the puck off Beck and in to seal the victory.
