PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 11 women's hockey team defeated Brown University, 4-3, in the 27th annual Mayor's Cup on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Schneider Arena. Sara Hjalmarsson recorded her 100th career point.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

-The Brown Bears struck first 7:57 into the first period with a goal by Jade Iginla, 1-0.

-Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) put the Friars on the board, 1-1, with a goal 12:16 into the first period. Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) assisted the goal.

-The Friars outshout the Brown Bears 12-3 in the first period.

-Brown's Jade Iginla started off an action-packed second period with another goal at the 3:53 mark.

-Rachel Weiss (Calgary, Alberta) tied the score, 2-2, with a pass by Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) 4:39 into the second. Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) was credited with the secondary assist.

-At the 8:29 mark of the second period, Noemi Neubauerova (Prague, Czech Republic) netted the Friars' third goal of the day with help from Sara Hjalmarsson and Caroline Peterson (East, Falmouth, Mass.)

-Hjalmarsson's assist earned her 100th career point.

-The Friars took a 4-2 lead when Kirchmair slotted a goal to the bottom of the net. Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario) and Weiss were each credited with an assist.

-Brown's Olivia Willamson scored the final goal of the day during a power play 8:35 into the final period.

-Providence held off the Brown Bears for the remainder of the third period to take a 4-3 win.

-Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the day with 11 saves.
