CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman forward Oskar Jellvik broke a 2-2 tie against No. 13 UMass Lowell with his first collegiate goal in the third period to deliver Boston College its second straight 3-2 win over a ranked opponent on Tuesday night at Kelley Rink.

The Eagles extended their unbeaten streak to three games and improved to 4-4-2 overall while moving above .500 in Hockey East at 4-3-1.

Cutter Gauthier and Connor Joyce registered first period goals in the victory, while Lukas Gustafsson registered a pair of assists. Mitch Benson stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced from the River Hawks (7-4-0, 4-2-0 HEA).

Colby Ambrosio's backcheck helped lead to the game's opening goal at 6:21 of the first period. Ambrosio tipped the puck off a Lowell stick to Gustafsson, who led a pass to Gauthier on the left wing and the rookie twisted a heavy shot into the bottom right corner.

The Eagles doubled their lead with three minutes left in the frame on Joyce's first of the year. Mike Posma was denied at the left post on a pad stop by Henry Welsch, but Joyce followed the play on the edge of the crease and finished on his forehand.

UMass Lowell came back to tie the game with a pair of goals in the second period, beginning with Owen Cole tapping in a left wing centering pass from Ben Meehan at 1:08.

Zach Kaiser pulled the River Hawks level at the 12:50 mark, beating Mitch Benson glove side with a wrist shot from the left circle just after a Lowell power play had expired.

Jellvik came up with the eventual game-winner at 6:21 of the third period as the Eagles scored on the power play for the eighth consecutive game. The Swedish rookie walked the puck down the left wing toward the faceoff dot before uncorking a shot into the upper right corner. Cam Burke and Marshall Warren collected the assists.

UMass Lowell pulled Welsch for an extra skater with just over a minute to play, but BC kept the River Hawks at bay to seal all three points.

Boston College returns to action on Black Friday (Nov. 25) when it hosts Notre Dame on the Heights at 4 p.m.
