Box Score - Highlights

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Junior Lacey Martin scored just 19 seconds into overtime to complete a three-point afternoon and lift the Boston University women's ice hockey team to a 4-3 comeback win over No. 13 Vermont on Saturday at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

Martin assisted on junior Madison Cardaci's equalizer with 4:35 remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime and also built a lead in the first period. Her winner came on a shot from the near edge of the left circle that was originally blocked by Vermont but found its way across the goal line.

Senior Julia Nearis notched two points on Saturday, as she scored a highlight-reel goal and made a nifty play to set up Cardaci's strike. Senior Nadia Mattivi and freshman Sydney Healey each recorded an assist on Saturday. Sophomore goaltender Callie Shanahan made 25 saves to earn the win.

With the win, BU improves to 4-8-0 overall and 3-7-0 in Hockey East play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Vermont opened the scoring at 8:28 of the first period.

- The Terriers tallied two power-play goals to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Nearis tied the game at 16:28 with a goal from a tough angle before Martin went coast-to-coast for an unassisted goal at 18:27.

- In the second, the Terriers and Catamounts combined for four straight penalties, but neither team capitalized on the power play until the 14:07 mark when Vermont evened the score.

- The Terriers started a skater down in the third but recorded another successful penalty kill, but at 14:10 of the third, the Catamounts went on the power play and got the go-ahead goal after a scramble at the top of the crease.

- BU responded with a goal of its own just over a minute later. Nearis dangled around a defender and then slid a pass to Cardaci, whose wrist shot from the bottom of the right circle found the back of the net to force overtime.

- Just 19 seconds into overtime, Martin's shot from the near edge of the left circle was originally blocked by Vermont but found its way across the goal line to give the Terriers the win and two points in the Hockey East standings.
