NOTES

- The Friars opened with a couple of strong shifts, followed by some sustained pressure by the Wildcats in the opening 10 minutes of play.

- Providence went to a two-man advantage for 1:20 but couldn't capitalize.

- The Wildcats took the lead at 16:56 after Morgan Winters finished off a rebound at the top of the crease.

- UNH took a 2-0 lead just 32 seconds into the middle period after the Friars were whistled for an early penalty. Colton Huard netted the goal for the Wildcats.

- Providence appeared to get on the board minutes later but the goal was waived off due to a hand pass.

- The Friars finally broke through at 11:36 as Bennett Schimek chipped a pass ahead to Craig Needham, who beat Muszelik on the backhand for his first of the season to make it 2-1 UNH.

- Chase Yoder brought the Friars even at 7:40 of the third period as he beat Muszelik five-hole from the slot. Taige Harding and Brady Berard earned the assists.

- The Friars held the Wildcats to just eight shots on goal over the final 45 minutes of play.

- Providence killed off a penalty in overtime and the game went to a shootout, officially in the books as a 2-2 tie.

- In the shootout, Brett Berard beat Muszelik in the first round and Philip Svedebäck stopped all three Wildcat shooters to earn the extra point.
