PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 6/5 Northeastern women's ice hockey team (7-1-0, 6-1-0) scored twice in the first and twice in the second and received 13 saves from Gwyneth Philips to knock off No. 13 Providence (7-2-0, 4-1-0) on Friday night at Schneider Arena, 4-1.

The Huskies were in control from start to finish and received goals from four difference scorers on the night, outshooting the Friars 33-14 while winning 35-of-68 face-offs.

- The Huskies drew first blood with 6:16 to go in the opening frame when Peyton Anderson collected a clean face-off win from Lily Brazis and wired a shot shortside for her second of the year.

- Northeastern struck again less than two minutes later on Chloe Aurard's fifth of the year, redirecting a low shot from Tory Mariano over the shoulder of Abstreiter to make it 2-0.

- The Huskies extended the lead to three less than five minutes into the second period on Mia Brown's second of the year, finishing off some tic-tac-toe passing with Anderson and Brazis to give the visitors a commanding lead.

- Providence got on the scoresheet with 4:01 left in the second period when Claire Tyo beat Phillips from the right side for her first of the season.

- NU, though, regained its three-goal lead in the final minute of the second period on Maude Poulin-Labelle's second of the season, knocking home a loose puck after Katy Knoll's initial bid from the right side.

- The two teams will meet again in the weekend finale on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Matthews Arena.
