PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 13 women's hockey team beat the University of New Hampshire, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Schneider Arena. Sara Hjalmarsson scored the game-winning goal with two seconds left in the third.
GAME FLOW & NOTES
-The Friars and Wildcats skated through first period scoreless. Providence outshot the Wildcats 13-7.
-New Hampshire's Kyla Bent scored the first goal of the day 2:33 into the second period during a power play.
-With 17 seconds left in the second, Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) converted on a power play to tie up the game, 1-1. Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.) and Ida Press (Uppsala, Sweden) assisted Kirchmair on the goal.
-New Hampshire led the second period in shots, 23-19.
-Third period remained scoreless until the final two seconds when Noemi Neubauerova (Prague, Czech Republic) and Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) fed Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) the puck for the game-winning goal.
-Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the day with 32 saves.
