Box Score

WALTHAM, Mass. - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the Bentley University Falcons, 5-1, on Saturday evening in Bentley Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): The Black Bears struck for the first goal of the contest at the 5:51 mark of the first period. David Breazeale fired a shot from the blue line that directed off Thomas Freel's stick. The freshman's deflection found the back of the net for his first career tally with the Black Bears. Maine grabbed a very early 1-0 lead.

Second Goal (1-1): Catching the Black Bears in the middle of a line change, Bentley tied the afternoon non-conference battle at one goal apiece. Harrison Scott's first shot was saved by Jacob Mucitelli, but the rebound was not secured. Scott tipped home the rebound and tied the game with 10:18 remaining in the first period.

Third Goal (2-1 Bentley): Once again, the Falcons scored after Mucitelli made the original save. Josh Latta was the most recent benefactor of a Black Bear save and rebound. Bentley also caught Maine in an odd man rush. The combination of a big rebound and a virtual man advantage led to a goal for the Falcons.

Fourth Goal (3-1 Bentley): With the back hand, Harrison Scott scored his second goal of the afternoon. The Falcon took his time, picked his spot, and flipped his shot into the net. The soft defense allowed the forward to score with ease.

Fifth Goal (4-1 Bentley): After forcing a turnover in the neutral zone, Stephen Castagna led a 2-on-1 breakaway. The forward kept the puck on his stick and fired a shot in the Maine net. The goal gave his squad a three goal lead after two periods and forced the Black Bears to make a goalkeeper change.

Sixth Goal (5-1 Bentley): Nicholas Niemo scored an empty net goal with 2:30 left in regulation. It was the final goal of the game as Maine fell 5-1.

Notes: Jacob Mucitelli stopped 16 shots for the Black Bears before being relieved by Victor Ostman who made three saves. Connor Hasley recorded 33 saves between the pipes for Bentley.

Maine went 0 for 4 on the power play, as the Falcons were 0-2 on its player advantages.
