NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- Behind a stifling team defensive effort, the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team held the Merrimack Warriors to just four shots on goal in a 5-0 shutout victory on Friday night at Lawler Rink.

Senior Megan Carter and graduate student Maureen Murphy each tallied two-point nights with two assists each to lead the Huskies (5-0-0, 3-0-0 HEA).

- Senior Katy Knoll potted her fifth goal in five games for the Huskies, opening the scoring with a short-handed tally at the 5:12 mark in the first frame.

- Northeastern tallied two more goals in the second frame to take a 3-0 lead into the final stanza. Graduate student Mia Brown potted her first of the season, and freshman Lily Shannon followed Brown's goal up 43 seconds later with her second tally of the season.

- Graduate students Chloé Aurard and Alina Mueller closed out the scoring in the third frame, each lighting the lamp for the Huskies. Aurard's goal came on the power-play.

- Senior netminder Gwyneth Philips posted her second shutout of the season, making four saves on the night.

- The Huskies outshot the Warriors 53-4.

Northeastern and Merrimack will close out the home-and-home series on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
