BOSTON, Mass. - Jack Williams, Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and Sam Colangelo all tallied two points in the No. 8 Northeastern Huskies' 5-2 victory over the Vermont Catamounts on Friday night.
- After trailing, 1-0, in the first period, Matt Choupani netted his first goal of the season to tie the game. Jack Williams and Jayden Struble were credited the assists.
- Another Husky scored his first career goal as freshman Jack Williams potted one at the 8:14 mark in the second period. With one goal and one assist on the night, Williams now has three points in two games.
- Second period scoring did not stop there as Sam Colangelo added one final tally to close out the middle frame. Colangelo was assisted by linemates Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and Jack Hughes.
- With Vermont bringing the game within one goal, captain Aidan McDonough extended the Huskies lead to 4-2 late in the third period. Fontaine and Colangelo recorded the assists for their second points of the evening.
- To close out scoring, Jakov Novak added an empty-net goal on Northeastern's way to victory.
- With 15 saves on the evening, goaltender Devon Levi picked up his first Hockey East win of the season and advanced to 2-0-0 on the year.
The Huskies are back at Mathews Arena tomorrow night for game two of their weekend series with the Catamounts. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
