CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sixth-ranked Quinnipiac spoiled the first game of the Greg Brown era on Friday night with a 4-0 non-conference victory over Boston College at Kelley Rink.

Quinnipiac netminder Yaniv Perets stopped all 16 shots he faced for the shutout.

The Bobcats struck first just three minutes into the night when Zach Metsa one-timed a clean faceoff win by Skyler Brind'Amour blocker side on the power play. BC couldn't pull even despite breakaways from Lukas Gustafsson and Cam Burke later in the period.

Boston College nearly tied the game again six minutes into the middle frame but Trevor Kuntar's power play one-timer on the weak side hit the right post. QU added to its lead at 12:48 on a right point wrist shot from Charles-Alexis Legault that snuck inside the left post through traffic.

Assistant captains Michael Lombardi and Ethan de Jong added goals for the Bobcats in the third period to seal the road win.

QU finished the night with a 29-16 edge in shots on goal and held BC scoreless on two power play chances.

Graduate transfer Mitch Benson made 25 saves in his Boston College debut.

BC travels to face New Hampshire next Saturday night in its Hockey East opener at 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center in Durham.
