Box Score

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Four different Terriers lit the lamp to help the Boston University women's ice hockey team earn a 4-3 win at Vermont on Friday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

BU (11-12-5, 10-7-4 HE) never trailed as it snapped Vermont's nine-game win streak. The Catamounts fell to 19-10-2 overall and 16-7-1 in league play.

Sophomore Lacey Martin, junior Nadia Mattivi and junior Julia Nearis each tallied one goal and one assist, with Nearis' third-period strike proving to be the game-winning goal. Senior Courtney Correia also lit the lamp while junior Haylee Blinkhorn recorded a career-high two assists, including one on Nearis' winner. Sophomores Clare O'Leary and Catherine Foulem assisted on Correia's marker while classmate Andi Calderone had the primary helper on Nearis' strike. Freshman goaltender Callie Shanahan made 27 saves to earn the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Mattivi opened the scoring 11:12 into the proceedings. She made a great play to take the puck away from a Catamount skater trying to leave the UVM zone. Martin helped the puck along to Blinkhorn, who found Mattivi with a pass as the defender skated towards the goal. Mattivi one-timed the puck past Jesse McPherson (23 saves) for her second goal of the season.

- The Catamounts evened the score with 49.9 seconds on the clock, but Correia responded 25.7 seconds later to retake the lead for the Terriers. Sophomore Julia Shaunessy played a terrific outlet pass from her own faceoff circle to Foulem, who then centered the puck for O'Leary in the slot. Correia got a piece of O'Leary's shot and the puck fluttered over the goal line.

- Martin gave BU a 3-1 lead just 4:25 into the second stanza with a terrific wrist shot during a power play.

- Maddy Skelton got a goal back for UVM just over three minutes later to make it a 3-2 game entering the final 20 minutes.

- Nearis gave BU an all-important insurance goal with 7:55 remaining in regulation. Martin won an offensive-zone draw to Blinkhorn, who quickly dished the puck to Calderone at the top of the zone. McPherson stopped Calderone's shot, but the rebound kicked out to Nearis at the left post and she buried it for her fifth goal of the season.

- Vermont answered just 27 seconds later to make it a one-goal game once again.

- The Catamounts finished regulation on the power play, but despite a 6-on-4 advantage for the final portion of the period, they were unable to tally a tying goal.
