PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 17 Providence College men's hockey team raced out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back as the Friars defeated Vermont, 4-1, in Hockey East action at Schneider Arena on Saturday night.

NOTES

-Patrick Moynihan netted the first goal for the Friars at the 11:26 mark of the first. Moynihan's goal, assisted by Brett Berard and Parker Ford, came on the power play after Luca Munzenberger was called for interference.

-Michael Citara followed up with another goal with just 3:57 remaining in the opening period. Assisted by Alex Esposito and Max Crozier, the goal served as Citara's second of the season.

-The Friars had back-to-back goals in the second period, just 12 seconds apart from one another. The first came from Berard as he rang in his team-high 14th goal of the season off the post after a chip pass from Nick Poisson along the boards. Cody Monds followed 12 seconds later as he finished off Crozier's rebound off the end boards. Kohen Olischefski earned the secondary assist on the play on Monds' fourth goal of the year.

-After Providence's fourth goal, Gabe Carriere replaced Tyler Harmon in net for Vermont.

- Vermont got on the board 2:05 into the final period with a goal from Isak Walther.

- The Catamounts put another one in the net shortly after, but officials waived the goal off after review due to a hand pass.

- Jaxson Stauber recorded 18 saves for the night.

- Shot attempts were 52-35 in favor of the Friars.

- The Friars swept the three-game season series with the Catamounts and improved to 10-3-1 on home ice this season.
