AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Riley Duran scored twice in the third period, including the game-winning goal with 3:42 remaining in regulation as the No. 17 Providence College men's hockey team outlasted No. 9/8 UMass, 2-1, on Friday night at the Mullins Center.

- The teams skated through a scoreless first period as the Minutemen held a 10-7 advantage in shots. The Friars were unsuccessful on their two power play attempts, while UMass was blanked on their lone man-advantage.
- Providence gained some momentum in the second period, outshooting the Minutemen by a 10-7 margin and ringing two posts during power play opportunities.
- At the 2:17 mark of the third period, Duran finally broke the ice as he finished off a rebound off the end boards for his seventh goal of the year. Max Crozier and Cody Monds earned the assists on the play.
