ORONO, Me. - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team defeated the Boston College Eagles, 4-1, on Friday evening in the Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): Early in the first period, Jakub Sirota gave the Black Bears a 1-0 lead. Grant Hebert fired a shot then collected the rebound. The forward dished the puck to Sirota, who found the back of the net. Maine led 1-0 six minutes into the Hockey East contest.

Second Goal (2-0 Maine): Adam Dawe doubled the lead with a goal at the 16:07 mark of the first period. After winning a face-off in the Boston College zone, Dawe turned the win into a goal. Keenan Suthers kept the puck in the zone. After one complete in the Alfond, the Black Bears led 2-0.

Third Goal (2-1 Maine): The Eagles pulled to within one goal with a goal halfway through the second period from Marc McLaughlin. Cade Alami's shot was saved by Victor Ostman. The rebound was uncovered in the crease. McLaughlin did not miss his chance and got his squad in the scoring column.

Fourth Goal (3-1 Maine): After David Breazeale ripped the puck off the end boards, Grant Hebert scored the third Black Bear goal of the evening. The forward had a wide open net, which he did not miss.

Fifth Goal (4-1 Maine): In the final seconds of the contest, Hebert added an empty net goal. The three goal lead stood as Maine defeated the Eagles by the 4-1 tally.


Notes:

- Victor Ostman stopped 32 shots for the Black Bears, while Eric Dop tallied 33 saves for Boston College.

- Maine went 0 for 1 on its power play opportunity, as the Eagles were 1-2 on its player advantages.

- The Black Bears blocked nine shots and won 31 face-offs as a team.
