Senior forward Celine Tedenby scored two goals for the Black Bears

ORONO, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team defeated the Merrimack Warriors Saturday night by a final score of 4-2.

FIRST GOAL (1-0 Merrimack): It would be the Warriors who would grab the early lead as Emily Oosterveld netted her third goal of the season. Teghan Inglis (5) and Madison Oelkers (3) picked up the assists.

SECOND GOAL (1-1 Maine): The Black Bears would have an answer as Celine Tedenby put a shot up and over Emma Gorski to net her fourth of the season. Her highlight reel goal came off of a feed by Morgan Trimper (6) and Jennifer Costa (4).

THIRD GOAL (2-1 Merrimack): Merrimack would regain the lead at 14:20 in the second period as Ally Qualley netted her third goal of the season. Assisting on the score was Raice Szott (6).

FOURTH GOAL (2-2 Maine): Jen Costa would get the lopsided period started for the Black Bears as she netted her second of the season following the set up shot by Ali Beltz (8). Elise Morphy (6) also picked up an assist on the play.

FIFTH GOAL (3-2 Maine): Celine Tedenby would have a do-it-yourself moment as she picked off a pass by the Warriors defender and put it in the back of the net for her fifth of the season, second of the contest.

SIXTH GOAL (4-2 Maine): Courtney Colarullo would cap-off a big 3-0 scoring run by the Black Bears in the third period as she netted her third of the season. Her power play goal came off of feeds by Elise Morphy (7) and Jennifer Costa (5).

Porter was big for the Black Bears, stopping 24 shots in the contest and blanking the Warriors over the final 25 minutes of the contest.

Maine (9-13-1, 7-8-1) is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 22 as they finish off the season series against the Warriors. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
