Junior defenseman Case McCarthy had two assists for the Terriers
Boston University Edged By US Under-18 Team In Exhibition, 4-3

BOSTON, Mass. - Three different Terriers found the back of the net, but the Boston University men's ice hockey team fell to the U.S. National Under-18 Team, 4-3, in an exhibition contest on Saturday afternoon at Agganis Arena.

Junior Robert Mastrosimone tallied a goal and an assist while classmate Case McCarthy provided a pair of primary assists. Freshman Ty Gallagher and junior Matt Brown also lit the lamp for BU. Sophomore Nick Zabaneh and junior Domenick Fensore also added an assist apiece for the Terriers. Junior Ashton Abel made 20 saves.

Future Terrier Quinn Hutson scored the eventual game-winner for the Under-18 Team. Quinn's brother Lane, Jack Harvey and Devin Kaplan were the other three future Terriers that skated for the Team USA squad on Saturday.


HOW IT HAPPENED

- Gallagher opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 16:07 of the first frame, ripping home a shot from the top of the zone.

- The U.S. evened the score just 1:51 into the second stanza and then scored a shorthanded tally at 11:57 of the period to take a 2-1 lead into the third.

- Mastrosimone potted a power-play goal at 2:40 of the third to tie the game, but a shorthanded goal at the 6:55 mark gave the U.S. the lead once again.

- Quinn Hutson's unassisted marker at 13:22 made it 4-2.

- Brown got a goal back for BU with an extra-attacker strike at 17:56 of the third.

- The Terriers pulled Abel again in favor of an extra attacker, but the U.S. hung on for the win.


GAME NOTES

- The Terriers finished the game 2-for-6 on the power play and held the U.S. scoreless on its only power play of the game.

- BU outshot Team USA, 41-24.

- Freshman Tristan Amonte led the Terriers with three blocked shots while Mastrosimone and junior John Copeland blocked two shots apiece.

- BU will return to action on Dec. 31 when the Terriers travel to Brown.
