Junior defenseman Adrien Bisson scored a goal for the Black Bears

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team tied the Union College Dutchmen, 1-1, on Friday evening in the Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): With just under two minutes remaining in the first period, Adrien Bisson scored the only goal of the opening frame. Dawson Bruneski forced a turnover in the neutral zone. Lynden Breen picked up the loose puck and brought it into the attacking zone. The forward waited patiently for Bisson and found the defenseman at the perfect moment. Maine led 1-0 after 20:00.

Second Goal (1-1): Collin Graf tied the non-conference contest at one goal apiece early in the third period. Ryan Sidorski fired a shot from the blue line that was saved by Matthew Thiessen. The rebound found its way to Graf's stick who did the rest. With 14:16 left in regulation, the two squads were tied.

The two non-conference teams skated to a scoreless end of the third period and overtime period. Since the game was non-conference, there was no shoot-out.


Notes:

Matthew Thiessen stopped 12 shots for the Black Bears, while Connor Murphy tallied 51 saves for Union.

Maine went 0 for 2 on their power play opportunities, as the Dutchmen were 0-1 on its lone player advantage.

The Black Bears blocked six shots and won 25 face-offs as a team.
