TROY, N.Y. - The No. 18 Northeastern men's hockey team (10-4-1) received goals from Aidan McDonough and Jakov Novak, along with 25 saves from Devon Levi, en route to a 2-1 victory on the road at RPI on Friday night at Houston Field House.

The win is Northeastern's fifth one-goal victory of the season and marks just the third time since 2000 that the Huskies have won 10 of their first 15 games (2008-09 and 2018-19).

McDonough's first period tally moved him into a tie for first in the NCAA with 12 goals this season. He has four goals in his last three games.

- With Northeastern controlling the play for much of the opening period, the Huskies broke through midway through the frame thanks to sustained pressure in the attacking zone, culminating with an attempted shot from Jordan Harris that ricocheted off a defender and right on to the stick of McDonough, who buried it from the right circle for the 1-0 lead.

- RPI leveled the game at one just 4:44 into the second period on Ture Linden's sixth of the season when he found himself the recipient of a Jake Johnson rebound off the pad of Levi, and hammered it home at the right post to make it 1-1.

- Northeastern retook the lead in the opening minute of the third period, bolting out of the zone on a defensive zone face-off as Novak flew down the right side before flinging a backend over the shoulder of Marshall for the highlight reel strike and his fifth of the season.

RPI finished the game with a 26-21 edge in shots on goal with Northeastern winning 58% of the face-offs (33-of-57)

Northeastern and RPI will meet in the backend of the home-and-home set on Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m. on NESN, and tickets are available by visiting NUHuskies.com/tickets.
