BOSTON - Senior Courtney Correia broke a 4-4 tie with 3:47 remaining in reguation to lift the Boston University women's ice hockey team to a 5-4 victory over No. 10 Boston College on Sunday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena.

BU (7-5-3, 6-4-3 HE) never trailed on Sunday, holding leads of 2-0, 3-2, 4-3 and finally 5-4 during a back-and-forth contest with BC (8-5-0, 6-4-0 HE). The Terriers have now won five of their last six meetings with the Eagles.

Sophomore defender Julia Shaunessy notched a career-high four assists on Sunday, all of them the primary helper, as part of the Terriers' win. Five different BU skaters found the back of the net, as senior Mackenna Parker, junior Nadia Mattivi, senior Emma Wuthrich and freshman Christina Vote joined Correia on the score sheet.

Junior Julia Nearis tallied two assists, including the lone helper on Correia's winner, while Wuthrich and Correia each recorded an assist to complete their respective two-point afternoons. Junior Brooke Ersoy also secured an assist as part of the Terriers' terrific effort on the offensive end.

Freshman Callie Shanahan made a career-high 32 saves in her first-ever start against BC. The Terriers outshot the Eagles, 45-36.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- BU scored a power-play goal just 1:52 into the proceedings to take a 1-0 lead. Ersoy and Shaunessy cycled the puck to Mattivi at the top of the zone, and the junior defender's one-timer slid past Abigail Levy (40 saves) for her first strike of the campaign.

- Wuthrich made it 2-0 at the 4:08 mark. Shaunessy made a great move in the offensive zone to evade a defender and then fired a shot on net that Levy saved. The rebound went right to Wuthrich in front of the net, however, and she buried the loose puck for her fifth goal of the season.

- BC responded with two goals, including one on a breakaway, to even the score.

- Shanahan ensured the score remained tied heading into the first intermission with a terrific stop on a BC breakaway.

- Parker potted her fifth goal with 5:25 to play in the stanza to give BU a 3-2 lead. Wuthrich outhustled a BC defender to a loose puck along the end wall and chipped it to Shaunessy at the bottom of the right circle. Shaunessy found a wide-open Parker in front of the net, and the senior forward collected the pass and quickly pushed the puck past Levy.

- The Eagles tied it just 22 seconds into the third period, but Vote answered just 4:10 later to give BU its third lead of the day. From her own zone, Shaunessy lobbed a pass over an Eagle defender and it landed on the stick of Vote, who created a 2-on-1 with Nearis. Vote skated all the way into the left circle before uncorking a shot past Levy for her fourth goal of the season.

- Kelly Browne equalized for BC at the 7:56 mark with a power-play goal.

- The Terriers took the lead for good with 3:47 to play. Nearis gained the BC blue line and dropped the puck back for Correia. The senior forward faked a shot, skated into the slot and then ripped the puck over Levy's glove for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

- BC pulled Levy in favor of an extra attacker, but the Terriers held strong defensively to preserve the win.
