How It Happened

- In a game dominated by board play, teams were deadlocked after the first period. Merrimack's penalty kill was sharp against two shorthanded opportunities, leaving teams scoreless after the opening 20 with teams even at seven shots on goal each.

- UNH scored two in the second period, with Jada Christian capitalizing on an unopposed offensive zone opportunity following a stretch where she drove the Wildcats' offense. Lindsey Dumond scored in the final five minutes of the period on a deflected shot inside the crease.

- The Warriors started their come-from-behind efforts in the third period. On the power play, Gabby Jones fired a shot from the top of the circle, with a big rebound kicked out from the shot. Hannah Corneliusen at the top of the crease settled the puck down for another opportunity, before Alexa Pongo jumped on the loose puck to get on the board.

- Less than a minute later, Merrimack scored to tie the game. Emily Oosterveld held the puck in the zone, handing off to Courtney Maud along the top of the slot. Maud sent the pass over to an unmarked Raice Szott at the top of the faceoff circle, who squared up and fired through traffic for her first career goal and the game-tying goal.

- Even at two, the Warriors carried the momentum into 3-on-3 overtime. From the opening draw, Merrimack sent out Teghan Inglis, Hannah Corneliusen and Courtney Maud. After winning the opening faceoff, Maud fired a shot for a save with a rebound that wrapped around the boards. Inglis controlled the puck along the boards at the point, sending the puck to Corneliusen, who shielded against her defender along the boards before firing a pass across the open real estate to Maud. Handling on her outstretched backhand, Maud cut in on goal and finished over the goaltender's shoulder for the victory.
