HARTFORD, Conn. - Jack McBain wristed a shot high glove side to beat Darion Hanson with 1:22 left in the third period and 16th-ranked Boston College skated away with three points in a 2-1 Hockey East victory over UConn on Friday night at the XL Center.

The Eagles improved to 6-4-1 overall and 4-2-0 in league play, while the Huskies suffered just their second Hockey East loss and dropped to 6-4-0 (4-2-0 HEA).

Colby Ambrosio scored late in the second period to tie the game at one and finished the night with a game-high eight shots on goal. Graduate transfer Brandon Kruse assisted on both goals and collected his 150th career point.

Eric Dop was solid all night between the pipes, stopping 29 of the 30 UConn shots he faced for his 50th collegiate win.

Ryan Tverberg opened the scoring for the Huskies at the 8:13 mark of the second period when he finished a wraparound just outside the left post, slipping a forehand under Dop's pads.

The Eagles had the answer with just 20 seconds remaining in the frame as Marshall Warren curled the UConn net and found Ambrosio for a blocker side one-timer in the left circle.

Late in the third following the conclusion of a 4-on-4, Nikita Nesterenko skated into the UConn zone with McBain. Nesterenko dropped a pass for the senior at the top of the right wing circle and McBain fired a shot high short side for the game-winner.

Boston College out-shot UConn 39-30 for the game and 12-6 in the third period, the 10th straight opponent that the Eagles have out-shot.

Only two penalties were called the entire night and neither time had a power play.
