STORRS, Conn. - Goals from Coryn Tormala and Viki Harkness highlight a strong second period that propels the University of Connecticut women's hockey team to victory. With the win the Huskies improve to 11-1 on the season.

UConn's defense was tested early on as Brown would go on the attack immediately from puck drop and pepper freshman Megan Warrener with shots. UConn's best chance of the 1st period came on the penalty kill when graduate student Natalie Snodgrass would take the puck at center ice and be all alone on the breakaway, but her shot would ring off the post.

UConn's defense was the highlight of the first period. They allowed only four shots on goal and killed off two penalties. The first period would come to an end with both teams tied.

UConn would take the lead early in the second period on a goal from junior Coryn Tormala set up by a beautiful pass from freshman Brianna Ware. UConn would keep the pressure on as they would create multiple fast break opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net.

Senior Viki Harkness would extend the lead when she would take the puck behind the net and fire it top shelf on the Brown goalie. UConn's defense would continue to shut brown down as they would go into the break with a 2-0 lead.

UConn's defense was the highlight of the third period as they would continue to limit Browns chances. Graduate student Morgan Wabick would find the back of the net late in the third period to extend UConn's led to three. Freshman Megan Warrener would finish with 14 saves as the Huskies improve to 11-1 on the season.

The Huskies remain at home for a weekend series vs. Maine Friday and Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday.
