STORRS, Conn. - Graduate student forward Summer Rae Dobson scored the game-winner less than one-minute into overtime to lift the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team past Vermont, 2-1, on Saturday evening at the Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn. With the win, the Huskies improve to 8-1-0 on the year and 4-1-0 in Hockey East Play.

The goal was Dobson's fourth of the season and came during 3-on-3 play. Fellow grad student forward Natalie Snodgrass set up the game-winner with a perfect cross deep in the UVM zone.

The assist was the fifth of the season for Snodgrass.

Senior net minder Samantha Carpentier-Yelle was outstanding on Saturday, turning away 26 of the 27 shots she faced.

Vermont broke the scoreless tie 6:21 into the second period when Natalie Mlynkova threaded the needle through the UConn defense and snuck the puck under the crossbar and into the back of the net.

The Huskies knotted the game up in the closing seconds of the second period. Graduate student defender Taylor Wabick played the puck up the ice to senior forward Danielle Fox who controlled the puck deep in the UVM zone. She flipped it in front of the Vermont goal and found the back of the next after benefiting from a couple nifty redirections.

Vermont outshot UConn 27-18 on the evening.

The Huskies are back in action on Friday, November 5 when the team welcomes Boston University to Storrs. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. at the Freitas Ice Forum.
