Box Score

BOSTON - Senior Emma Wuthrich scored the game-tying goal early in third period and classmate Courtney Correia was the only person to score in the shootout as the Boston University women's ice hockey team skated to a 1-1 draw with visiting Vermont on Friday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

UVM opened the scoring at 11:07 of the first period and the Terriers kept them scoreless for the remainder of the game and all three shootout attempts.

Senior Kate Stuart made 23 saves for BU, which moves to 4-1-3 overall and stays undefeated in Hockey East play (3-0-3).

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Terriers had to overcome a tough start offensively as they generated only one shot on goal in the first 27 minutes of play.

- The Catamounts opened the scoring at the 11:07 mark of the first when Maude Poulin-Labelle collected a rebound before beating Stuart short side from the left circle.

- BU killed off a penalty early in the second as UVM threw three shots on goal during the power play.

- The Terriers started the third period with 1:38 left on what would be their only power play of the game but they were unable to knot the contest on the advantage.

- Wuthrich came through soon after, however, as sophomore Julia Shaunessy and junior Haylee Blinkhorn kept the puck alive off a rush and got it to Wuthrich from behind the net, where the senior converted a wraparound for the equalizer at the 4:00 mark of the third.

- BU gave UVM a power-play chance with just 5:31 left in regulation but the penalty kill stepped up and got the contest to overtime.

- The best chance for either team in the 3-on-3 extra session was a breakaway chance by UVM's Natalie Mlynkova but Stuart was up to the task.

- Correia went first in the shootout and performed a deft move to beat UVM netmidner Blanka Skodova.

- Stuart went on to stop all three of the Catamounts' tries and she needed to as Correia was the only player to convert.

GAME NOTES

- Stuart's 23-save performance was important as UVM enjoyed a 24-11 shot advantage.

- Shaunessy had a game-high five blocked shots.

- This is the first time in seven seasons that BU has gone undefeated in its first six Hockey East contests and the 2013-14 squad won its first eight league contests.
