ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the Sacred Heart University Pioneers, 1-0, on Friday evening in the Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 SHU): After the puck deflected off the sideboards and into the front of Maine's net, Adam Tisdale scored on an open net. Matthew Thiessen was on his way behind the net to play the puck before it took a strange bounce off the boards. Maine trailed by one goal early in the Friday night contest.

The two non-conference foes battled to a scoreless second and third period. The Pioneers 1-0 lead was enough as they held off the Black Bears for their second win of 2021-22.


Notes:

David Breazeale, Adrian Bisson, and Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup paced the Black Bears with nine total shots on goal.

Matthew Thiessen stopped 33 shots for the Black Bears, while Justin Robbins tallied 24 saves for SHU.

Maine went 0 for 2 on their power play opportunities, as the Pioneers were 0-1 on its player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked six shots and won 24 face-offs as a team.
