HAMDEN, Connecticut - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team falls to the Bobcats of Quinnipiac, 5-1 Saturday afternoon.

Maine would strike first in the afternoon contest as Celine Tedenby netted her second goal in as many games for the Black Bears. Coming off the breakaway, Ally Johnson (2) and Kennedy Little (1) picked up the assists.

Maine would hold onto the lead into the second period until Quinnipiac's Alexa Hoskin tied the contest with 13:50 left in the second. Courtney Vorster (1) assisted on the play.

Quinnipiac struck again later in the second period with 9:01 left as Taylor House netted her first of the season to put the Bobcats ahead 2-1. Lexie Adzija (2) and Jess Schryver (2) picked up the assists.

The Bobcats would go on to score three goals in the period, with their third coming off of the stick of Sadie Peart, her first of the season. Maddy Samoskevich (1) and Alexa Hoskin (2) picked up the assists.

Quinnipiac wouldn't wait very long before striking in the 3rd period as Nina Steigauf netted her second of the season just 1:07 into the period. Alexa Hoskin (3) and Sadie Peart (3) picked up the assists.

Midway through the period, on a bizarre play during a delayed penalty, a loose puck drifts all the way back into the Maine zone that goes in the empty net. That would give the Bobcats a 5-1 lead.

Corinne Schroeder picked up the win in net with 27 saves.

Loryn Porter finished the contest with 39 saves for the Black Bears.

Maine (0-2) returns to Alfond Arena for the first time in two years in their home matchup against St. Anselm College on Saturday, Oct. 2. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.
