NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- The Merrimack women's ice hockey team started with an up-tempo battle against Minnesota State with the Warriors coming up short 3-0 on Friday night.

How It Happened
- Teams played to a largely even first period, with Merrimack posting five shots on goal, with Minnesota State turning nine on goal in a scoreless opening 20 minutes. Following a penalty kill midway through the period, the Warriors jumped for their best chance with Dominika Laskova springing from the penalty box with Courtney Maud, breaking in on goal without challenge from defenders for the opportunity.
- Special teams were potent for the Mavericks in the second period, with a power play goal for a 1-0 lead. Shorthanded, Minnesota State added its second of the day on a pass from deep within the defensive zone through to a waiting forward.
- From the heels off a power play, a scramble in front turned into Minnesota State's third tally of the game in the closing parts of the second.
