HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine scored his second overtime winner in as many weeks and was named Beanpot MVP as Northeastern won its fifth title in six years.

Boston College scored four power-play goals and got four points (2g, 2a) from Cutter Gauthier in a 6-1 win over New Hampshire on Friday night.

UMass swept UConn as Michael Hrabal stopped 72 shots and allowed just one goal in a pair of league wins. He posted a career-high 36 saves in Friday’s shut out road win.

Providence handed Maine its first loss at Alfond Arena this season when Guillaume Richard buried the overtime winning goal 23 seconds into the extra frame on Saturday. Richard also assisted on the game-tying goal with less than five minutes to play. Maine took a 2-1 win Friday night.

Vermont won a pair of shootout points at UMass Lowell, adding four points in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings on the weekend. Joel Maatta scored a goal and converted in both shootouts for the Catamounts. Scout Truman assisted on two goals for the River Hawks.

Merrimack saw the return of Alex Jefferies to their lineup and the senior forward scored the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over New Hampshire.

Justin Hryckowian - Northeastern
Cutter Gauthier - Boston College

Justin Hryckowian (Sr., F; L’Île-Bizard, Que.) recorded a three-point night en route to defeating Harvard, 3-2, in the Beanpot semifinal, the only game for Northeastern last week. He tallied one goal and two assists, playing a role in every goal for the Huskies. He finished with three shots, three blocks and a plus-three rating while winning nine of 16 faceoffs. He has now recorded back-to-back three-point games and has nine points (3g, 6a) in five consecutive games.

Cutter Gauthier, BC (So., F; Scottsdale, Ariz.) posted his second career four-point game (2g, 2a) in a 6-1 win over New Hampshire on Friday night. He now leads the nation with 23 goals and has points in 16 of his last 17 games with 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points in that span.


PRO AMBITIONS CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK

Macklin Celebrini - Boston University
Hudson Malinoski - Providence

Macklin Celebrini (Fr., F; Vancouver, B.C.) ad more goals than any other player in the NCAA last past week, as he scored two of his three goals in the Terriers’ Beanpot semifinal win over No. 1 Boston College. Celebrini added an assist to lead Hockey East with four points. He is second in the nation in both goals (22) and points (41).

Hudson Malinoski, PC (Fr., F; Saskatoon, Sask.) registered a career-high three points, all coming in the final 10:29 of game action in Providence’s 4-3 overtime victory at Maine on Saturday night. Malinoski tallied two assists, including a helper on the game-win- ning goal in overtime and tied the game with 4:33 remaining in regulation with his seventh goal of the season.

Scott Morrow - Massachusetts

Scott Morrow (Jr., D; Darien, Conn.) helped lead a defense that allowed just one goal in a weekend sweep of UConn, which included a 2-0 road win on Friday and a 3-1 victory at the Mullins Center on Saturday. He assisted on the game-winning goals in both contests and had an additional assist in Saturday night’s win. With this three points, he passed long time NHLer Justin Braun for second all-time in career scoring by a defensemen (88 points) on the weekend, now with 90 points in 98 collegiate games.

Michael Hrabal - Massachusetts

Michael Hrabal (Fr., G; Prague, Czechia) stopped 72 of the 73 shots he faced in a 2-0-0 weekend against UConn for a .986 save percent- age and a 0.50 goals against average over 119:45 minutes. The freshman turned aside all 36 shots he faced for his second career shutout in a 2-0 road win over the Huskies on Friday, setting a new career high in saves. He matched his new career high in saves the following night to secure a 3-1 victory.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Gabe Perreault, BC (Fr., F; Hinsdale, Ill.) Was tied for second in the nation with four points (2g, 2a) in two games last week. He is currently on a 12-game point streak (9g, 14a) which is the third-longest in the nation this season.

Will Smith, BC (Fr., F; Lexington, Mass.) Pushed his point streak to 12 games (9g, 12a) with a goal and two assists in two games last week.

Jack Harvey, BU (Fr., F; Stacy, Minn.) Scored his first two collegiate goals just 27 seconds apart in the Terriers’ 7-1 win over Merrimack on Friday night. He has now notched four points (2g, 2a) in his past three games.

Case McCarthy, BU (Gr., D; Clarence Center, N.Y.) Tallied two points on one goal and one assist and also recorded seven blocked shots to help the Terriers win two games last week.

Mathieu Caron, BU (Jr., G; Abbotsford, B.C.) Made 49 saves in two games this past week, including 34 stops in a 4-3 victory over No. 1 Boston College in Monday’s Beanpot semifinal.

Scout Truman, UML (So., F; Lethbridge, Alta.) Finishing with two assists for two points in a 0-0-2 weekend for UMass Lowell.

Mitchell Becker, UML (So., D; Rogers, Minn.) Scored the lone goal for the River Hawks on Friday, tying the game at one.

Owen Cole, UML (Jr., F; Dunnville, Ont.) Netted his seventh goal in his last 10 outings on Saturday.

Josh Nadeau, ME (Fr., F; St-François-de-Madawaska, N.B.) Recorded two goals and one assist for three points in a 1-1-0 weekend against No. 10 Providence. He scored two power-play goals and fired six shots on goal.

Bradly Nadeau, ME (Fr., F; St-François-de-Madawaska, N.B.) Led Maine with four points, all on assist, in a weekend split with Providence.

Brandon Chabrier, ME (So., D; Bayville, N.Y.) Scored one power-play goal, blocked two shots and had three shots on net in a series split with Providence.

Albin Boija, ME (Fr., G; Sundsval, Sweden) Went 1-1-0 with a .917 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average, making 46 saves in the split weekend.

Anthony Calafiore, ME (Fr, F; Staten Island, N.Y.) Scored his first career goal and first career game-winning goal on Friday night.

Alex Jefferies, MC (Sr., F; Lunenberg, Mass.) Returned from injury for the first time since Jan. 13 and scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win over UNH.

Guillaume Richard, PC (Jr., D; Cap-Sante, Que.) Recorded two points on Saturday night in Providence’s 4-3 overtime win at Maine. He earned a primary assist on Hudson Malinoski’s game-tying goal with 4:33 left in regulation and scored the game-winning power-play goal 23 seconds into overtime.
