Alex Newhook exploded in February, leading all NCAA players with 20 points, 11 assists, two shorthanded goals, and a plus-14 on ice rating. The freshman helped the Eagles to a 7-1-1 record and the Hockey East regular season crown with six multi-point outings, including a five-point night on Feb. 15 in a 6-2 win over Merrimack with two goals and three assists, ad two game-winning goals. He recorded at least one point in all nine outings and ended the month riding a 10-game point streak with 10 goals and 11 assists over the span for 21 points. He also led Hockey East in shooting percentage, converting 33% of his shots into goals.

STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH

Jeremy Swayman - Maine
Junior; Anchorage, Alaska

Swayman led Hockey East in February with a 1.55 goals against average and .950 save percentage, both of which were good for fifth nationally among all netminders. The junior's two shutouts were also the most in the league and were second in the country. He made at least 30 saves in five of his seven appearances for the Black Bears and eclipsed the 40-save plateau in a 41-save shutout in a 1-0 overtime win on Feb. 21. Of the 11 goals allowed by Swayman on 221 shots, four came while his team was on the penalty kill. Swayman is currently the only goaltender in the nation with over 1,000 saves on the season, stopping 1,051 shots to date.
