Box Score

STORRS, Conn. - UConn's Camryn Wong (Vancouver, B.C.) scored a second period power play goal and goaltender Tia Chan (Hamilton, Ont.) made it stand up behind 32 saves as the No. 11 nationally ranked Huskies closed the regular season with a 1-0 Hockey East win over Boston University Saturday afternoon in front of 1,238 at the Toscano Family Ice Forum.

The Huskies, who clinched the Hockey East regular season championship with Friday night's win, sweep the weekend set with BU and pick-up their 22nd win on the season, a new school record for regular season wins. UConn improved to 22-7-5 overall and finished with a 19-4-4 HEA mark.

After a scoreless first period, the Huskies struck early in the second thanks to a power play chance. BU's Maeve Kelly was sent to the box for interference just 1:11 into the period and the Huskies needed just 17 seconds to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Maya Serdachny (Edmonton, Alberta) fed junior Riley Grimley (Eagleville, Pa.) on the right wing and she fed a cross-ice pass through traffic to Wong in the right circle who buried a wrister on the open net for her fourth goal on the year.

That was all Chan and the Husky defense would need as the junior netminder pitched her league-leading seventh shutout of the season. Chan made 16 saves between the first and second periods then turned away all 16 third period shots to keep a clean sheet.

The Huskies killed off all five BU power plays, the last coming in the closing minutes of the third. Wong was sent to the box for body checking at 15:14 and the Terrier got goaltender Callie Shanahan off the ice with 3:15 left for a two-skater advantage. UConn held strong and Chan made six stops down the stretch for the 1-0 win.
