WORCESTER, Mass. - The No. 11 ranked UConn women's ice hockey team bested Holy Cross by a score of 5-1 on the road Saturday night for their 20th straight game staying unbeaten.

Junior goaltender Megan Warrener allowed only one goal on 20 saves and continued her unbeaten streak through her last 13 games starting along with graduate student Coryn Tormala and sophomore Megan Woodworth also highlighting the night each collecting two points on the night with a goal and an assist each.

In the first, UConn came out firing as it tallied 17 shots on goal to Holy Cross' eight by the end of the period. Seven minutes into the period, the Huskies opened the score on a slick finish from Coryn Tormala. As Christina Walker skated down ice, Walker dropped the puck off to Ashley Allard at neutral ice to then slide the pass to Tormala on the left side. Tormala winded back and fired one cross her body to slip the puck past the goalie. Then, UConn earned its first power play on a boarding call, but the Crusaders killed the penalty. UConn got another power play on a tripping call in UConn's end, but Holy Cross once again killed the penalty. The score stayed at 1-0 after one.

The Huskies got the shots up fast in the second period. Two minutes into the period, UConn tacked on another goal making it 2-0. The Huskies got ahold of the loose puck in the Crusader's back line, and Megan Woodworth executed on a hustle play beating out everyone to the open puck. Then, Riley Grimley got on top of a scoring chance again in a vulnerable spot in Holy Cross's zone. Grimley set and fired hitting top shelf for the third goal of the night. Holy Cross would get its first power play of the game on a holding penalty and the Huskies would kill the penalty. Seconds after the power play expired, the Crusaders got on the board scored by Millie Sirum. Play then would turn to 4-on-4 with a penalty on Holy Cross for roughing and later a penalty on UConn for high sticking. As soon as the advantage came back on UConn's side with the left-over power play time, Ava Rinker would ring in the fourth goal of the game finding open net in the top right corner past the goalie's glove side. UConn would outshoot Holy Cross with 15 shots on target to the Crusaders' three. The period would end with a five-minute major on UConn for boarding, but the score stayed at 4-1.

UConn would kill the five-minute major that carried over from the second period. Holy Cross would then get its third power play advantage, but the Huskies again snuffed that away. Then, with less than ten minutes left in the game, Kathryn Stockdale added a fifth goal off a slick cross-ice pass from Woodworth to make it 5-1. UConn got up four shots on target to Holy Cross' 10 in the third; however, the Huskies finished the game with a massive 36 shots on target to the Crusaders' 21. The final score stayed at 5-1 UConn.
