ORONO, Maine - The Merrimack Warriors Women's hockey team pulled off the weekend and season series sweep over the University of Maine Black Bears, winning by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.


The Basics

Merrimack (9-16-3, 6-12-3): 3, Maine (11-16-2, 7-13-3): 2

Both teams were able to find the net in the first period as Maine took the lead early, but Merrimack tied the game late in the frame as Maria Lindberg scored her fifth goal of the season.

In the second period, the Warriors were able to kill off three Maine power plays and Calli Hogarth made 18 saves to carry the tied score into the final 20 minutes.

In the third period, Maria Lindberg would score her second of the game and eventual game winning goal, after Allison Reeb forced the turnover in their defensive zone. From there, the Warriors would keep the Black Bears chances to a minimum and Calli Hogarth made 10 saves to capture the win.


Notes and Numbers

- Maria Lindberg scored twice in the win.

- Allison Reeb had two assists in the win as she played in her 146th career game becoming the new all-time leader in games played for the Warriors, passing Courtney Maud '22 (145 games)

- Natalie Nemes also had an assist, she celebrated her 100th game in a Warriors uniform.

- Calli Hogarth made 39 saves in the win.
