Box Score

BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team closed out its weekend series with No. 15 Boston College by posting a 3-0 shutout victory over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Conte Forum.

The junior class had a standout afternoon as Callie Shanahan stopped all 19 shots she faced, Liv Haag opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal and Christina Vote made it 2-0 with an impressive individual effort. Senior Lacey Martin capped the scoring with a power-play goal.

BU turned the tables following a 3-0 home loss to the Eagles on Friday and now stands at 12-14-3 overall and 10-11-1 in Hockey East play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- After coming up empty on the first two power-play chances of the game, the Terriers opened the scoring during BC's first power play.

- Haag raced after a BU clear on the penalty kill and stole the puck from BC netminder Grace Campbell behind the goal and calmly put it into the open net for her first career goal with 1:26 left in the opening period.

- The Terriers held a commanding 18-5 shot advantage in the second period but Campbell kept the Eagles in the game by stopping each of those attempts.

- Moments after getting out the penalty box early in the third, Vote scored a highlight goal to give BU a 2-0 lead at 4:06 into the third.

- Graduate student Nadia Mattivi intercepted a BC pass by the right post and fought off an Eagle to push the puck up the left side to Vote, who first stickhandled past a skater at the blue line before cutting through the left circle and tucking a backhand past Campbell.

- BU's special teams came up big again, adding another insurance goal four minutes later on the power play.

- Martin beat Campbell high glove side with a snipe from the top of the left circle on assists from Mattivi and senior Catherine Foulem.

GAME NOTES

- BU held a 31-19 shot advantage as Shanahan picked up her first shutout since her freshman season.

- The Terriers went 1-for-4 on the power play and Martin's goal ended an 0-for-21 skid.

- Sophomore Clara Yuhn had a game-high seven shots.

- This was the program's first shutout victory at Conte Forum since a 4-0 win on Jan. 15, 2011.

- This also marked the first time that each side of the Green Line Rivalry shut out each other in the same season.
