Northeastern, Maine Tie 1-1; Extra Point Goes to Northeastern in Shootout

ORONO, Maine - Fifth year goaltender Gwyneth Philips made 31 saves to lead the No. 14 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 1-1 tie at Maine on Saturday night at Alfond Arena. The Huskies claimed the extra Hockey East point, winning the shootout, 1-0, with a goal from freshman Allie Lalonde.

- Sophomore Avery Anderson scored her second goal in three games to put the Huskies up 1-0, 6:09 into the first period. Avery Anderson's tally was assisted by sophomore Lily Shannon.

- Maine tied the game at 1-1 with a goal from Sam Morrison before the end of the first period.

- The second and third periods were scoreless affairs for both sides as the two teams headed to overtime. Once again, both teams were unable to find the back of the net and the game officially ended in a 1-1 tie.

- In the shootout to decide the extra Hockey East point, Philips stoned all three Maine shooters and Lalonde scored to deliver the Huskies a 1-0 win.

The Huskies will next take on Harvard in the Beanpot Semifinals on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
