BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) posted two goals and one assist for three points as the No. 13 University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated Northeastern, 4-2, on Friday night at Matthews Arena.

Prior to tonight, the last time UNH defeated Northeastern at Matthews Arena was a 3-0 win on November 15, 2013.

Junior defenseman Jack Babbage (Tully, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal and recorded an assist, while freshman forward Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) recorded his second goal of the season.

The Wildcats improve to 5-2-1 (3-1-1 Hockey East), while the Huskies are 2-6-0 (0-6-0 Hockey East).

The Wildcats return to action versus Northeastern on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m on ESPN+ at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex. Following the game will be an autograph session.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Sophomore goaltender Tyler Muszelik (Long Valley, N.J.) recorded nine saves in the first while Cameron Whitehead recorded five saves for the Huskies to keep it a scoreless game.

- At 3:24 into the second Alex Campbell put the Huskies on the board with a shot over the right shoulder of Muszelik.

- Babbage tied things up quickly, scoring his first collegiate goal from the slot over the right shoulder of Whitehead. Sophomore forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) and freshman forward Marty Lavins (Riga, Latvia) tallied assists on the goal.

- At 11:28 into the second, sophomore forward Kristaps Skrastins (Grobina, Latvia) stole the puck from the Huskies and passed it to LeClerc who fired a shot over the glove of Whitehead for a shorthanded goal.

- At 13:07, LeClerc scored on a one-timer, glove side, off a pass from sophomore forward Stiven Sardarian (Saint Petersburg, Russia) from behind the net. Babbage also recorded his first assist on the season.

- Then at 18:09, the Wildcats went on the power play and Conmy tipped in LeClerc's shot to the back of the net to increase their lead 4-1. Junior defenseman Colton Huard (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) also posted an assist on the goal.

- Justin Hryckowian tallied a goal for the Huskies with .3 second left in the game.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Northeastern outshot UNH, 28-23.

- The Wildcats went 1-2 on the power play while the Huskies went 0-5.

- Muszelik recorded 26 saves for the 'Cats. Whitehead tallied 13 saves in two periods and Connor Hopkins tallied six.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

- UNH's 5-2-1 record is its best start to a season in six years when the Wildcats went 6-1-1.

- The 'Cats 3-1-1 Hockey East record is also the 'Cats best in six seasons when they were also 3-1-1.
