STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team extended their win streak to seven with a 3-0 win in the first game of the home and home series against Holy Cross at home Friday night. The Huskies poured on three goals in the third period from Ava Rinker, Kathryn Stockdale, and Brooke Campbell.

The Huskies started off the first period with 14 shots on goal while Holy Cross had five shots on goal. UConn offense working hard to find the opening goal in the beginning of the period was met by the Holy Cross goaltender, Brooke Loranger who kept the game scoreless in the first.

The Huskies had a chance early in the period to break open the score in the second period, but Loranger again made the save right in front of the goal line. Four power plays between the two occurred and as Holy Cross had a 5 on 3 advantage in the middle of the period, UConn killed both penalties. The Huskies remained scoreless after the second period with 26 total shots on goal.

Then came the third period with a UConn scoring surge. Ava Rinker found the top right of the goal from the back line to give the Huskies a one-goal lead. Then two quick goals were scored with one in the power play for UConn. The Huskies on their third power play of the game, got one to go with Megan Woodworth passing it off to Stockdale to get a stick on it to then slide it in past the goaltender. Then, Campbell finished off the night with the third goal from a slick pass from Coryn Tormala.
