HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Crimson was able to get on the board early on and used that to build momentum and score again soon after.

- Off a rush in the fourth minute of play, Kaley MacDonald beat BU netminder Mari Pietersen high blocker side on a rush bid from the left slot to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

- Just over two minutes later, Harvard doubled its lead when a no-look pass from Gwyn Lapp below the left circle found its way to Kayley Crawford, who buried a shot at the 6:19 mark.

- The Terriers had the first power-play chance of the contest at 12:55 of the first and generated some looks on the player advantage but could not get on the scoreboard.

- After BU had long stretches of possession throughout the second period, Harvard was able to grow its lead with 3:16 left in the frame as Lapp and Gabi Davidson Adams traded passes with the latter finding Davidson Abrams wide open for a goal at the right crease.

- BU finally broke through in the closing moments of the second as Cardaci cleaned up a rebound at the right post on assists from classmates Lacey Martin and Andi Calderone at the 19:44 mark.

- The Terriers once again dominated possession in the third period but could not get to within a goal.

- Alexa Matses, who played the final two periods in goal for BU, was pulled in favor of an extra attacker with 4:14 left in regulation.

- With the extra skater, the Terriers attempted 14 shots but seven were blocked, five were saved and two were off target as Harvard held on for the win.
