Boston, Mass. - The UConn women's hockey team upset No.13 Northeastern Friday evening. The win over the Huskies is UConn's first win over Northeastern since the 2017-2018 season. Junior goaltender Megan Warrener made 23 saves for the shutout win, while the goal scorers were Jada Habisch, Brianna Ware and Brooke Campbell.

The UConn offense continued to stay hot as they were able to open the scoring Friday evening. Seven minutes into the start of the game, senior Jada Habisch took the pass at the blue line and after beating the defenders was able to flick the puck past the Northeastern netminder. UConn doubled their lead midway through the first period as Brianna Ware fired the puck top shelf while on the power play. The Huskies entered the period break with the two-goal lead.

With the two-goal lead, the Huskies defense and goaltending shined. UConn was able to blank the talented Northeastern roster and limit their scoring chances. Junior Megan Warrener faced the most shots of the evening in the second period but was able to keep Northeastern off the scoreboard and head into the final frame still in the lead.

In the final period, UConn continued to pressure the Northeastern skaters, causing turnovers, and limiting scoring chances. With time running down in the period. Northeastern elected to pull the goalie for an extra attacker. With the net empty, sophomore Brooke Campbell collected the puck and scored on the empty net to seal the victory for UConn.

The win this evening was the Huskies first win over Northeastern since the 2017-2018 season. UConn and Northeastern will wrap up their two-game series tomorrow, Saturday, November 4 at the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs. Connecticut.
