ORONO, Maine - Sophomore Clara Yuhn scored a power-play goal with 8:16 left in regulation to lift the Boston University women's ice hockey team to a 4-3 road victory over Maine on Saturday evening at Alfond Arena.

BU, which never trailed in the game, had a 3-1 lead erased but Yuhn's first goal of the season pushed the Terriers to their first Hockey East win of the season.

Sophomore Sydney Healey and seniors Andi Calderone and Lacey Martin also scored for BU, which now stands at 2-2-1 overall and 1-2-0 in league play.


HOW IT HAPPENED

- After a slow start to the opening frame, Calderone lit the lamp for the Terriers with help from Martin at the 15:55 mark.

- The Terriers and the Black Bears continued to skate evenly through the middle of the second period when Maine scored the equalizer.

- BU went ahead shortly thereafter when junior Maggie Hanzel found Martin in the neutral zone who scored on a top-shelf backhander.

- Healey extended the lead off a pass from senior Catherine Foulem that came from the Maine blue line late in the second.

- Maine closed the gap in the second before tying the game 3-3 on a power-play goal early in the third.

- On the final power play of the game, Yuhn scored the game-winner off a shot from the far side of the right circle thanks to passes from graduate student Nadia Mattivi and senior Tamara Giaquinto.


GAME NOTES

- BU put up 42 shots on goal compared to Maine's 18.

- The Terriers only served one penalty compared to Maine's four.

- BU blocked 13 shots and won 25 faceoffs.

- Freshman netminder Mari Pietersen made 15 saves.

- Healey and Martin lead the Terriers in goals this season with three each.
