UConn wasted no time Friday evening as they found the back of the net three minutes into the start of the game. Graduate student Coryn Tormala kicked off the scoring with a highlight reel goal as she beat two defenders before backhanding the puck past the Providence netminder. Four minutes later while on the power play, the Huskies found the back of the net once again as Brooke Campbell found the loose puck in front of the net and chipped it home to give UConn the two-goal lead. Later in the first period, following a broken play, captain Coryn Tormala found sophomore Kyla Josifovic for a one timer and her first career goal, to give UConn the three-goal lead heading into the second period.

The Huskies offense did not stop after the first period as they were able to score two more goals to increase their lead to five. Early in the second period, transfer Alexa Pongo scored her first goal as a Husky as she was able to collect a loose rebound and push it past the netminder. One minute later, Coryn Tormala scored her second goal of the game as she collected the puck at the blue line and skated into the zone before firing the shot over the should of the goaltender The Friars eventually found the back of the net before the second period ended to head into the break down four goals.

With the four-goal lead, the Huskies defense and goaltender Megan Warrener shined. The Huskies held the friars scoreless in the third period and with continued puck pressure, ended any thought of a Providence comeback. With two minutes remaining in the game, junior Rilley Grimley scored, to seal the six-goal win for the Huskies.
