EAST MEADOW, N.Y.- Fifth year netminder Gwyneth Philips posted her third shutout of the season to lead the No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team a 2-0 victory over the LIU Sharks on Saturday night. Philips posted 19 saves for her 19th career shutout. She has allowed just two goals through four games for the Huskies.

- Northeastern and LIU played through two scoreless frames before fifth year Katy Knoll potted the game's first goal at the 14:24 mark of the third period. Knoll's shorthanded tally came on a 5-on-3 opportunity for the Sharks, with an assist from graduate student Megan Carter. Knoll's eventual game-winner was her first tally of the season.

- Junior Taze Thompson then doubled the lead just over a minute later to bring the final score to 2-0. Thompson's goal was assisted by senior Lily Yovetich and junior Skylar Irving.

- The Huskies outshot the Sharks, 40-19. Senior Abbey Marohn led all Huskies with three blocks.

Northeastern will next turn to Hockey East play against Boston University on Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena.
