HAMDEN, Conn. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to #8 Quinnipiac by a score of 5 to 1 in their second game of the opening weekend.

The Black Bears struck first as freshman, forward Lily Fetch tallied her first career goal near the end of the first period. Sophomore Ava Stevenson and freshman Ashley Kokavec earned the assists on Fetch's tip-in goal.

The Bobcats scored twice in the second period to take the lead, followed by three more goals in the third period. All five goals were scored during even-strength play, as Maine managed to kill off all seven minutes of the Bobcats' power play chances.

Mira Seregély led the team in shots on goal with a total of five. Shots were 38 to 29 in favor of Quinnipiac. Goaltender Julia Bachetti played her first collegiate game, making 33 saves total on the evening.

The Black Bears are on the road again next weekend for a pair of non-confernece games against Stonehill College on October 6th and 7th.
